Opportunity for Primary and Secondary RE Teachers
For primary and secondary RE teachers, specialists and non-specialists, there is an opportunity to obtain funding for postgraduate study provided by Culham St Gabriel’s, an endowed charitable trust dedicated to educational work in support of Religious Education (RE). As part of the 3forRE scheme, it has approved St Mary’s MA in Education: Pedagogy programme for RE teachers to pursue postgraduate study related to their subject. The funding available is £1500 per year and the two conditions are:
- i) the small-scale research enquiry, which is at the core of the MA must be on an aspect of RE
- ii) the student’s school must fund 10% of the fees.
The MA in Education: Pedagogy is a part-time programme taught at St Mary’s in fortnightly twilight sessions and monthly Saturday Schools as well as an online programme over two academic years. Students who have achieved up to 90 Masters credits as part of a PGCE are eligible to apply for exemption from some modules.
Further details of the programme are available on St Mary’s website at https://www.stmarys.ac.uk/postgraduate-courses-london/education-pedagogy-for-teachers
