St Paul's teacher in final of Pearson Teacher of the Year Awards
St Paul’s Catholic Primary School in Thames Ditton is delighted that Year 2 teacher, Hayley Townsend, is a finalist in the National Pearson Teacher of the Year Awards. Having been nominated by a parent, Hayley has already been visited by the rigorous judging team; the results are awaited.
Hayley is an inspiration; there is nothing that Hayley does that is not outstanding. She does this because she wants only the very best for students, at all times. Hayley is early to start and one of the last to leave. She is relentless in her efforts for her children, year group and school. And she does it all with a smile and a kind word. Parents know that there is something magical unfolding and they are only too eager to know how to support the efforts within class.
Hayley’s students adore her. More importantly they trust her and this trust has allowed Hayley to ask them to perform their very best. To walk into Hayley’s classroom one only has to listen for the buzz of busy minds whirring as they engage with the task at hand. There is a maturity about her class that is hard to find in children at such a young age. At St Paul’s, the children she teaches and comes in to contact with are truly blessed.
