Diocese of Arundel and Brighton Admissions Guidance 2016 (updated 2017)
Updated Diocesan Guidance on Admissions was published in August 2016. A few additions (i.e. definitions of 'Children of other Christian denominations' and 'Children of other faiths') were added in v2 (September 2017).
The Diocesan Admissions Guidance is a comprehensive document and should be read in conjunction with the DfE Codes on Admissions and Admission Appeals. The Guidance does not replace that given in these Codes and associated Regulations, but supplements them.
The Diocesan Guidance on Admissions outlines the respective roles in the Admissions process of Governors, the Headteacher, the Priest, Parents/Carers and the diocese. It also offers wide-ranging guidance particularly for governing bodies (as the admission authority of each Catholic school), but also for priests and parents/carers.
Following the V2 additions, for easier amendment and printing (if required) by schools, the document has been split into three sections.
The first section covers the Guidance commentary itself (including the document cover, Bishop's foreword and contents page). It also includes Appendices 3, 4 and 5 of the Guidance. This first section can be downloaded here.
For both primary and secondary schools, the Diocesan Admissions Guidance also offers a selection of four model policies and four model supplementary information forms for schools to choose from.
The second section covers the model policies and SIFs for primary schools which make up Appendix 1 of the document. The model documents for primary schools are available to download here
The third section covers the model policies and SIFs for secondary schools which make up Appendix 2 of the document. The model documents for secondary schools are available to download here
